It’s been a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day here—a lot of doodling, cooking, eating, and wearing of the green.
Many of the mice who live here are part Irish, like me, and it’s been fun seeing them prance around in their traditional costumes or wee green bowler hats.
Blackie and Max got into the spirit of things before they even got out of bed, having worn beautiful green Dorothy Designs roses to bed last night instead of their usual striped night caps. (Charlotte didn’t get the memo, apparently, but looked festive nonetheless in her red candy box rosette.)
After breakfast, Charlotte got up to speed quickly, performing a flawless Irish step dance beneath some shamrock “mistletoe.” It was awesome!
Afterwards, Blackie supplied us with a second traditional Irish treat, to everyone’s delight.
Towards evening, Dad and I toasted my mom, Priscilla, and her Irish ancestors (including greatgrandma Bridget O’Rourke, from County Cork), and enjoyed a traditional Irish feast. Charlotte stripped off her itchy dress and relaxed on the patio floor.
I hope that however you spent your St. Patrick’s Day, it was festive and fun!
In fact, since it’s not yet midnight, I’ll bet a lot of you are still out celebrating, like my friends Karen and Tom, who stopped by a little while ago en route our village pub. A special shout-out to you both, and Sláinte to all! (And Happy Birthday dear Karen, in just five more minutes!)
Everyone looks very festive in their green outfits.
BTW Dad asked if I Photoshopped the flower tams on the cats’ heads, but nope, they were really wearing them. Proving once again that your flower pins look good on everybody 🙂
